The Cupid Watch Set combines fashion with expert craftsmanship; this is a mechanical automatic timepiece, and these kinds of complications are a recent development in women’s fashion. That being said, Stuhrling took it a step farther and made this Aphrodite a skeletonized automatic watch where the cut out that reveals the movement, the heart and soul of every timepiece, is in the shape of a heart. All around the heart are 36 genuine Swarovski crystals, each accented to match the corresponding executions, an extra touch of class, elegance, and beauty. As an addition artistic touch, the crown was placed at 4 o’clock instead of the traditional 3 o’clock position. The Cupid Watch Set is protected by a domed Krysterna crystal and comes set in a satin twill covered genuine leather strap with padded water repellant liners. The watch comes with 5 bands–red, blue, white, orange and green (bands match the colors of the numbers on the watch face). I was disappointed that a black band was not included, but I knew that before I ordered by looking at the product pictures. The watch comes with the white band already on. The first time I wore the watch, I was wearing a red shirt, so I thought I’d change it to the red band. Getting the white band OFF was a piece of cake, but getting the red band ON was a PAIN! I broke two nails in the process and was almost late for work because it took so long to get the pins exactly aligned so that the band was securely fastened.

The watch face is so original. It features big, colorful, funky numbers and a cut-out heart so you can see the inner workings. The back of the watch is clear so you can also see the inner workings–pretty darned cool. However, the watch face is HUGE compared to my normal watch (a Pulsar sport watch). I am very short and am also chunky, and the watch was not that comfortable on my wrist because I don’t have a long wrist area to accommodate the larger watch face. I had to keep the band loosened for comfort and then the watch kept rotating on my wrist.

A MAJOR disadvantage of this watch is that the hands on the watch face, especially hour and minute, are EXTREMELY difficult to see because they are very thin and silver and the inner workings of the watch, which make up most of the watch face, are silver. The only way I could tell what time it was was to tilt my wrist to catch the light. BIG problem for me. I am used to being able to glance at my watch very briefly to check the time (my Pulsar has a black face with gold hands, so it is very easy to see). Every time I wanted to check the time with this watch, I had to really concentrate and move my wrist around and it took at least twice as long just to find out what time it was.

In Summary:

Pros:
Fantastically fun and creative watch face.
Five different color bands to match your outfits.
Clear back on the watch face to see inner workings.
Very sharp-looking watch on your wrist.

Cons:
Large size of watch face compared to other watches (can be uncomfortable).
Difficulty in telling time due to silver hands on silver background.
Difficulty in changing watch bands (what’s the point of having 5 bands if you can’t change them easily?).
Black band not included and some odd color choices in bands that are included.
